La Manufacture is a French luxury perfume house specialising in modern fine colognes and candles. The original candle range is called La Manufacture des Châteaux. La Manufacture brings to life through scents the elusive atmosphere of exceptional castles such as Chateaux Donjon de Moret, situated in Moret-sur-Loing—a small town that was inspiration for impressionists like Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Raw materials are beautiful and rare, candles are all housed in Limoges porcelain or glass containers crafted with passion. Effortlessly stylish and refined Les Colognes Essentielles is a highly wearable collection of colognes made with a simple and chic style making them an essential contemporary classic. The story has taken time to unfold. It took three years to create the first three Colognes Essentielles, in a quest for authenticity and perfection. Having spent 20 years working in the fragrance industry the house founder Bruno Truchon Bartès honed and refined his style to create a brand with an effortlessly elegant and streamlined aesthetic. Combining Bruno’s love of historical preservation and fine fragrance, La Manufacture perfectly balances modern, Provençal and classic French perfumery influences, they are all smooth contemporary compositions that take inspiration from art, history and memory imbuing them with depth and a lyrical quality.
A breath of Bergamot and Guaiac wood...
On a cold winter’s day, avoiding drafts, settling by the large stone chimney. Buried in the soft leather sofas, gazing at the play of the dancing flames.... Wrapping oneself up in a pashmina surrounded by sweet and rounded notes. Among the leather and velvets, the vetiver frizzles, dry little flames are woven into a marron glacé.
“Contrast is the pivot of this fragrance; I sought to combine both freshness and sensuality. Luminous fruit (bergamot and yellow mandarin from Italy) are combined with darker, unpoli- shed substances: Guaiac from Paraguay, Amber and Vetiver. I chose Vetiver from Haiti because of its smoky characteristic reminding me of short winter days and log fires in the chimney. I constructed the sensual note around Marron Glacée, a typical winter treat“.
